My daughter has been introduced to measuring by Team Umizoomi. Milli Measure can use her ponytails to measure the number of units of any length such as height or distance or depth.

The link (http://www.nickjr.com/team-umizoomi/videos/math-milli-measure-lake/) will take you to Nickelodeon Jr. website to an episode where Milli Measure measures the depth of a lake counting by 10's to 100.
Full episodes of Team Umizoomi are available at http://www.nickjr.com/team-umizoomi/videos/. Or DVD's are available for purchase via Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=team+umizoomi+dvd%27s&tag=googhydr-20&index=dvd&hvadid=72760402351&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3450253531159885450&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_6glu4igml_b - all are rated 4.5 - 5 stars.
The measurements of weight, speed, sound, distance, size, and height can be introduced in terms of opposites to describe each such as:
Light and Heavy - weight
Fast and Slow - speed
High and Low - sound
Near and Far - distance
Big and Small - size
Tall and Short - height
To introduce light and heavy, we can talk about a balance to compare the weight of two objects. The heavier object such as an elephant or a bowling ball balances to the ground. The lighter object such as a mouse or a beach ball will then be in the air. Then we can also discuss how the elephant is big and tall while the mouse is small and short.

In this YouTube video, Ernie invites Bert to a game of light and heavy. Ernie picks up all of the light items - a feather, a tissue, and cotton candy. He sends Bert to pick up all of the heavy items - a barbell, a boulder, and a piano. By the end of the video clip Bert points out the game is not fair. And falls with the piano. Ernie instead of asking if Bert is ok, asks if the piano is alright.
To understand fast and slow, I ask my daughter about speed of transportation such as which moves faster, a car or a bike? Or which moves slower, a rocket or a balloon? The illustrations are from a book titled Fast and Slow available at: http://store.barefootbooks.com/fast-and-slow.html.

Just as Ernie tricked Bert in the previous video, Cookie Monster tricks Ernie in this YouTube video to talk about slow and fast.

Another story that describes fast and slow is Aesop's Tale about The Hare and The Tortoise recorded by HooplaKidz. A one page summary of the tale is also available at: http://www.storyit.com/Classics/Stories/tortoisehare.htm.
High and low can be taught in terms of music and sounds. The birds represent high notes and the elephants represent low notes.

The YouTube video is MusicK8.com's High Low Song by Plank Road Publishing. It shows a music note at a high location and then at a low place.
